Our Story

Gene’s Greens LLC was founded by Gene Edwards as a weekly Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) delivery service. With a degree in Environmental Science from Towson University and hands-on experience managing fields at a small farm, Gene envisioned a better future for himself, rooted in sustainability, community, and family. What began as a small garden and a dream quickly grew into Gene’s Greens, combining years of farming knowledge with a deep understanding of soil, weather, plants, and ecology.

In the early days, Gene delivered to just ten households each week. It was a small but meaningful start toward breaking the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle. As word spread, demand for responsibly grown produce blossomed. Along the way, Gene recognized another need: access to fresh, healthy food for those who couldn’t always afford it. From that realization came a philanthropic mission to grow food in ways that heal the land, and to share abundance by donating a generous portion of each harvest to local food banks.

Customers soon fell in love with Gene’s Greens for more than just the produce. They appreciated the mission of protecting the environment, supporting their neighbors in need, and enjoying the freedom to choose from a large list of fresh options each week. Today, our weekly offerings include over 50 varieties of fruits and vegetables, from heirloom tomatoes and rainbow carrots to purple broccoli, patty pan squash, and garden peas. Gene’s passion for collecting and growing unique varieties ensures there is always something new and exciting on the list every week.

Gene’s Greens continues to grow each year. What began in 2022 as a 3,000-square-foot garden is on track to become six acres by 2026. We now offer seasonal plant sales, including native plants, pop-up markets across Baltimore, and a flower bouquet CSA available every season except winter. In 2024, Gene’s partner Victoria added a delicious new chapter with the launch of Victoria’s Bake Shop.

None of this would be possible without our incredible customers and community. Your support helps us keep growing, feeding families, improving the land, and cultivating a healthier future for all.
